Ulysses S. Grant was elected the 18th President of the United States. He led the Nation through reconstruction, striving to eradicate any confederate nationalism and racism. He ended up leading our country into a depression as well as being accused of supporting corruption.

Significance:
Grant's Presidency ended in a huge disaster. The economy collapsed and sent America into a depression that Grant was largely blamed for. Grant also furthered the rights of African Americans and reduced Confederate Nationalism during his presidency.
