The Battle of wounded knee was a series of 2 clashes between the Sioux native american tribe and the United States Government. The Wounded knee massacre ended in the slaughter of 150 native americans. The conflict started over a dance called the Ghost Dance that the reservation indians did because they thought that if they did the Ghost Dance then their god would come down and kill all the non-indians. The government did not like this and demanded that the native americans stop. During the encounter fighting started and 150 indians were killed.
