Act passed by Congress in 1830 by Andrew Jackson that approved the removal of the Indians to western territory. The Indian Removal Act is viewed as unethical, racist, and wrong. The southeastern Indians violently removed under this act and faced many long term injustices as a result.

The Indian Removal Act created centuries of tension and injustice between the native Americans and the US government due to the atrocities committed because of it. It enabled the US to completely seize their land and force them to march across the country.
