The 13th Amendment was what officially abolished slavery and involuntary servitude. This Amendment is a landmark for civil rights and US progression. The amendment helped in the reconstruction of the United States after the Civil War.

- James Mitchell Ashley - Representative who first presented the idea of abolishing slavery as a way for post-war reconstruction.
The thirteenths amendment official abolished slavery in the United States. It was a huge step in the right direction towards equality and civil rights. The passing of the Amendment also marked another step towards reconstruction.
