The war of 1812 began for many reasons some of which are: America's need to expand its territory, the British trying to restrict American trade, and British taking American seamen. America took on the greatest naval power in the world. Major losses were taken on the American side however the American's were able to repulse the British forces unionizing the country and adding a new spirit to the war.

Significance
The war of 1812 brought the country together as a whole and even though there were many losses the American people achieved greater hope in their country.
