1763 - Proclamation Line - Sam

Description

The Proclamation Line of  1763 was a boundary formed by the British following the 7 years war. The war was fought between the British and the French with the Colonists on the British side and Indians assisting both sides. The war ended in 1763 and provided the British with very large territorial gains, however the British didn't know how to control these territories due to the natives and other problems so they enacted the Proclamation line which restricted colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. This is something that colonials were not happy with as they had just fought a war for 9 years in hope of expanding their settlements and enjoying the new opportunities that laid inland. Despite what they thought they had fought for, the oversea government saw too many problems with land west of the Mountain Chain and interrupted many of the hopes of the colonial population causing tension between Great Britain and their overseas colonies.
